A Silver Morning
This conversation is connected to A Silver Morning.
George Inness painted A Silver Morning in 1886, during the late period when his landscapes became increasingly atmospheric — less about specific places and more about light and weather. A pale sun burns through morning fog behind a thin pine tree at center. A small white house sits at the left, half-dissolved in haze. A figure sits at the edge of a narrow stream in the middle distance. The whole painting is built from layered veils of gold, olive, and silver-gray, with the forms softening as they recede until the background dissolves into atmosphere. Inness's signature and the date are in the lower right.
