After the Harvest
This conversation is connected to After the Harvest.
Cazin painted After the Harvest in the rolling countryside of northern France — haystacks sit in the foreground of a broad, hilly landscape, with golden fields giving way to greens and dark blues in the distance. A line of dark trees marks the far horizon, and the sky is mostly cloud, warm yellows and grays with a pale sun or moon visible just above the treeline. Cazin was trained to paint from memory by Lecoq de Boisbaudran, and there's a softness to this painting that comes from that method — the details are felt rather than recorded. The signature is in the lower left corner.
