Arbres dans la forêt
This conversation is connected to Arbres dans la forêt.
A cluster of tree trunks rises at the center against a ground of warm ochre, yellow, and pink. The paint is dry and chalky, applied in short, feathered strokes that dissolve the boundaries between trunk, foliage, and light. A few blue-green leaves are picked out at center, and patches of white sky show through at the top. The whole image is close to abstraction — trees seen at close range, where individual forms lose their edges and the painting becomes a field of color and texture.
