La plage violette
This conversation is connected to La plage violette.
A beach scene reduced to flat planes of lavender-pink and sea green. Dark silhouetted figures — one at the left on what appears to be a bench or railing, another in the foreground at the right, bent forward — are set against a broad expanse of violet-pink sand and green-teal water. A cluster of dark forms at center could be figures or structures on a seawall. The horizon is high, with a band of purple and green marking the distant water. The whole composition is compressed and simplified, closer to the decorative flatness of Vuillard's Nabi period than to his later, more naturalistic work.
