Léda et le cygne
This conversation is connected to Léda et le cygne.
A light, fluid interpretation of the classical myth of Leda and the Swan. The composition relies on Dufy's signature technique of separating color from contour. A seated female nude is sketched with rapid, continuous dark lines over soft, floating washes of pale peach and light blue. To her left, a white swan glides across a flat plane of translucent azure water, punctuated by calligraphic, V-shaped ripples. The resulting image is playful and atmospheric, reducing a heavy mythological narrative to an airy, highly decorative coastal scene.
