Moon in Clouds
This conversation is connected to Moon in Clouds.
Dark masses of trees painted in broad, rough strokes of umber, dark brown, and near-black fill most of the composition, with a small moon visible through a gap in the clouds at the upper left. The sky is a layered mix of mauve, dusty pink, blue-gray, and patches of white cloud. The ground is painted in warm brown and ochre. The composition is fast and physical with brushstrokes visible everywhere, the paint dragged across the board in circular motions, the trees reduced to heavy dark shapes. This is a tiny painting, probably no more than six or seven inches across.
