Morgennebel am Bodensee

This conversation is connected to Morgennebel am Bodensee.

Lake Constance at dawn or dusk, wrapped in fog. The painting is nearly monochrome in brown and olive-gray, with a pale full moon visible through a break in the heavy cloud cover at the upper left, surrounded by a patch of blue sky. A faint strip of light runs along the horizon where the lake meets the shore, and the water below is dark and still, reflecting the moon in a soft vertical streak. The sky takes up most of the canvas, the clouds painted in broad, atmospheric strokes. The composition is built on a single tonal range, the light muted and indirect.
