Parrot and Insect among Pear Blossoms

This conversation is connected to Parrot and Insect among Pear Blossoms.

A green parrot with a red breast and head perches among dense clusters of white pear blossoms on a warm gold silk ground. A small red-winged insect hovers near a branch at the right. The blossoms are painted in fine, layered white pigment, slightly raised from the surface, and the brown branches twist through the composition with careful attention to bark texture. A red seal mark appears at the lower right. Huang Jucai was a 10th-century Chinese painter, the son of Huang Quan, who founded the "rich and elaborate" school of bird-and-flower painting at the Shu court. This style of meticulous, decorative naturalism influenced Chinese court painting for centuries.
