Study from Maryino

A second painting from Maryino, this one set by a river or pond in early autumn. Bare-branched trees stand on a grassy bank at the water's edge, their dark trunks and thin limbs drawn in quick strokes against a pale sky. The water at the left reflects the trees and sky in cool lavenders and blues. Scattered touches of yellow and green suggest leaves just starting to turn. The canvas texture is visible throughout — this is a study, painted quickly and left unfinished in places.
